Portrait I & II, 2016
Vidéos HD, durées variables
Portrait I & II are two video works captured through the eyepiece of an optical microscope, each presenting a meditative encounter with a slowly shifting Petri dish sample. The image lingers in near-clarity, deliberately blurring the line between observation and projection, and drawing the viewer into focused attentiveness. Unfolding in cyclic repetition without clear beginning or end, the videos mirror the rhythmic processes of biological transformation, while simultaneously frustrating the desire for resolution—optical, narrative, or interpretive.
Portrait I & II were produced in collaboration with EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne).
